What is meant by 'Holistic'?

/hoʊˈlɪstɪk/ or [hoh-lis-tik] 

adjective

1. Incorporating the concept of holism in theory or practice: holistic psychology.

2. Medicine/Medical. identifying with principles of holism in a system of therapeutics, especially one considered outside the mainstream of scientific medicine, as naturopathy or chiropractic, and often involving nutritional measures: holistic medicine.

The Holistic Consciousness of One defines a holistic practitioner as:

"Any practitioner who offers a therapeutic approach to address health and well being in terms of the 'whole person' rather than as disorders affecting, or confined to only specific functional parts, systems, components or organs".
